Shipping to FBA Centres in Japan

I’m sure you already use a reliable freight forwarder for shipping your inventory to different parts of the world.

When it comes to Japan, you have 2 options:
  1. Use your usual freight forwarding company
  2. Use a specialist Japan shipping company
Whichever option you choose, you’ll need to have someone in Japan handle customs and import procedures for you. Selling through Amazon’s seller-central you are in effect shipping products to yourself. This is quite an unusual situation when it comes to sending products. Usually, the sender and receiver are different people.

This person is called an “importer of record” and is taking responsibility for receiving the shipment.

It is VITAL that you have an importer of record for Japan. Without one, your goods will be refused entry and returned. At your expense.
